Hammersmith Bridge is a favourite place for Cambridge spectators of the Boat Race to view the action, but it will be closed for this year's race.

The bridge is set for approximately £120 million in repairs, and the Hammersmith Bridge has been closed to vehicles since last April. However, it has remained available for cyclists and pedestrians.

However, Hammersmith Bridge will be closed between midnight and 5 pm on the day of the race: 29 March.

Nevertheless, there is a fierce battle expected this year between Oxford and Cambridge.

Fans wanted the bridge to remain open, but police requested that it be closed for safety reasons.
